Elkins Tonya

Tonya Elkins, LAPSW , MIHOW Director

Tonya has been the director of the MIHOW program since 2007. Previously, she was a MIHOW site leader in Nashville, TN. She has a Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Tennessee. Her past work experience includes community organizing, case work with Hispanic families, resettlement work with immigrant and refugee families, and emergency assistance. Martha Herndon  

Martha Herndon, Program Assistant

Martha Herndon was raised in East Nashville and could be mostly be found on a ball court or field, depending on the season. Her skills in sports led to an athletic scholarship at Trevecca Nazarene University where she double majored in Psychology and Social Work. During her undergraduate work she began the task of homeschooling her two children. Once they reached high-school she enrolled them at PCA where she coached volleyball and softball. It was during this time that she volunteered as a court-appointed special advocate (CASA) where she was able to advocate for children who were in the court system due to abuse or neglect. She believes that strong healthy societies begin with strong healthy children. Contact Martha

Debbie Withrow

Debbie Withrow, Regional Consultant West Virginia

Debbie began working with MIHOW in 1984 as one of the first Home Visitors at New River Health Association. She has been a MIHOW Site Leader since 1996 and a MIHOW Regional Consultant for West Virginia for 12 years. She is a certified trainer for MIHOW and WV STARS. Debbie has been married more than 35 years and is the mother of two daughters. Debbie embraces and conducts all training, supervision, and work related activities according to the MIHOW philosophy. Nonie Roberts

Nonie Roberts, Regional Consultant West Virginia

Nonie shares the responsibilities of Regional Consultant with Debbie Withrow. She is the Adolescent Health Coordinator for a region of West Virginia which includes six counties. Nonie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling from Marshall University, and then continued her education in Family Therapy at the Family Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Nonie has worked with MIHOW for 18 years. She loves the program because it has such a positive focus. Nonie has one daughter, two sons, and two grandchildren. Contact Nonie
